I have received from a platform to my Coinbase Wallet X amount of “Tether USD”, I received to my email a contract from Etherscan saying that I need to pay the 12% of that X amount to be able to withdrawn the total capital. This 12% must be send in Ethereum to the sender wallet. They say “case despriction: legalization, withdraw”. I add that I am from Europe.

In my Coinbase Wallet it shows this X amount bellow “cripto”, but I still have 0.00 dollars to use.

I don´t understand why are they asking me to pay that 12%!? Does anyone know if it is a scam or how to solve this without having to pay 12%?

    1. “”“I have received from a platform to my Coinbase Wallet X amount of “Tether USD” “””
    2. “”" In my Coinbase Wallet it shows this X amount bellow “cripto” “”"

The only thing that hasn’t shown up is your brain. 1+1 = 0 apparently.

Dude, it’s not rocket science. Did you at any point in time give etherscan or any defi platform your email address?

Jesus OP. I hope you meant to write crypto, and aren’t out here installing ‘cripto wallets’ on your devices.

For starters Etherscan is a historical node who keeps a copy of the Ethereum blockchain, and generously displays it online for public use. They are not an authority in any matter whatsoever. They will never reach out to you for any reason, especially noting that you have never given them your contact information to begin with.

Obviously this email is a scam. But underlying it, that means your name and email and crypto interests are being sold on malicious scam-lists someplace. It’s very wise to burn that email and never use it again, and to be more proactive with your data going forwards. These scams can get very convincing, especially now AI has run amok, please don’t make yourself a target.

This post makes you a target also FYI. Ignore any direct messages, or messages in private. People may reach out and offer to "help’ you in any way for any money or information in return, now that you’ve told us all publically this weak ‘cripto’ scam almost worked on you.

Tether USD or USDT isn’t the same as dollars either. It should show as ‘USDT tokens’ in your wallet, you may need to add a token manually before it becomes visible. You can search your public wallet address (your deposit address) in Etherscan’s search bar and it will show you all the assets you hold. If you don’t hold any USDT your wallet (check ERC20, check internal transactions, check all the tabs on Etherscan) then your wallet may in fact be burned also.

Edit: you can check if your email is on those lists here, https://haveibeenpwned.com/ – if yes (it will be yes in this case), time for a new email. It will show which leak got you too, eg the Ledger user database leak, and how bad it is.

Good for you actually writing this out for them. OP needs to read this and stop doing anything in crypto until they learn more. They will certainly lose everything if they stay in the game without learning that nothing is free and everything that seems too good to be true is a scam.

why would a block explorer be requesting you pay any money lol. on the flip side you can USE a block explorer to actually see what is ON your address :'D

if you have a withdrawal issue take it up with Coinbase. ignore anyone contacting you they are scammers. blockchain is decentralized technical protocol it doesn’t extort money from you to do anything it just works. if you sent shit to an address that shit will be on that address. it’s that simple.

you need to spend time figuring out why you are this gullible or even consider what they are saying… it’s because you have no idea how blockchain works, but are using it and investing in it, this makes you an easy victim.

please just use common sense and logic more. every withdrawal has a transaction hash which shows you… exactly where your funds are and how they got there.

you literally just said your crypto didn’t show in your coinbase wallet but it shows under crypto in coin base wallet? so you’re going to pay someone money to give you what’s already on your fucking wallet??? please explain your logic here.

if the USDT is ON your wallet, who cares if the API tells you what value it has in USD that’s only an estimate ANYWAY, if the shit is ON your wallet, then it is ON your wallet. go swap it for peace of mind… idk. PEBKAC

Here’s another way you can tell it’s a scam. There’s no free money in this world. If you mysteriously receive a token in your wallet but you need to pay to withdraw it, then that original token is worthless, or can’t be withdrawn.

It’s the same mechanic as the classic Nigerian prince scam. “I want to send you a million dollars, you just need to pay me ten thousand first in fees so I can send it to you.”
